How to make two cockroaches talk to each other in one video
The funniest AI cockroach videos aren't monologues; they're two roaches arguing about the derby, the dishes or who ate the last slice. In Roachy you don't need any editing for that. Write the conversation as lines, and both roaches appear in the same vertical video, taking turns with their own mouth movements.
The format: Who: what they say
Each line is one speaker. Put a name or a role before the colon and the words after it:
Basic two-roach roast
Red roach: The cup is ours. Again. Blue roach: Bought, not won. Red roach: Scoreboard doesn't care.
Roachy reads the part before the colon as the character and the part after it as the line. Names get turned into cockroaches (a "blue roach", a "boss roach", a "grandma roach"), while the spoken words are kept exactly as typed.
Rules that keep it watchable
- Two or three lines total. A video runs 5 to 10 seconds, sized to your lines; each line eats about two seconds.
- Name them by color or role, not by real people. "Red roach / Blue roach", "Boss / Intern", "Mom / Me". It reads instantly and avoids trademark trouble.
- Give the last line the punch. The clip ends right after it; that's the line people rewind for.
- Same language for both. Keep the whole dialogue in one language; that's how it sounds cleanest.
- Set the scene in a first line without a colon if you want one: Two roaches on the couch, remote in the middle. Then the dialogue.
Four dialogues to steal
Red vs Blue Derby
Red roach: We own this city. Blue roach: You rent it. We hold the deed. Red roach: Check the scoreboard, landlord.
Two rival roaches trading lines is the whole derby in ten seconds.
Mom Roach, Kid Roach
Mom roach: Where are you going? Kid roach: Out. Mom roach: Out is not a place.
Three lines every parent and every teenager has performed.
Who Liked Her Photo
Roach: Who's that liking your photos? Partner roach: My cousin. Roach: You have a lot of cousins.
Mild jealousy, no drama, big laugh; keep it playful.
Late Friend Roast
Roach: Where are you? Late roach: Parking. Roach: You don't have a car.
Three-line takedown for the chronic liar about arrival times.
What if I write more than two characters?
You can. Three roaches with one line each still fits in ten seconds. Beyond that, the video gets crowded and lines get rushed. If you have a longer sketch, split it into two videos and post them as a series; each one costs the same single allowance.
Single line or dialogue: which one for what
| You want | Write |
|---|---|
| A roast to send one friend | A single line, the roach talking to the camera |
| A derby-week video for the group | A red-vs-blue dialogue, three lines |
| A tiny sketch (traffic, office, kitchen) | A scene sentence, then one or two lines |
| A birthday message | A single line with the name in it, said dramatically |
Roachy needs a subscription to create videos (2 a day, up to 30 a month). Every character in your text becomes a cartoon cockroach; there's no way to add photos or voices. 18+ only.
Questions
Can two AI characters talk to each other in one video?
In Roachy, yes. Write each line as 'Who: what they say' and both roaches appear in the same clip, speaking in turn. No editing or stitching needed.
How many lines fit in a video?
Two or three short lines fit comfortably in a 6 to 10 second video. If you need more, make a second video; it's one allowance each.
Can I choose different voices for the two roaches?
There's no voice picker. The voices come from the video model based on the text and the characters you describe, so 'grandma roach' and 'kid roach' will sound different on their own.
Can I use my friends' names as the two speakers?
Yes. Whatever you put before the colon becomes that roach's name, so "Late friend:" or a first name both work, and the words after the colon are spoken exactly as typed. The character is still a cartoon cockroach, though: it won't look or sound like the person. Real names aren't blocked, but roles and colors usually read faster in a six-second clip.
