Best apps to make AI cockroach videos, compared honestly
Full disclosure first: we make Roachy, so it's at the top of this list. Everything else here is what we could verify on the tools' own pages and store listings in late September 2026, with links. There is no other app built specifically for talking cockroach videos; the rest are general AI video tools that can do it with the right prompt. Prices change; check the source before you pay.
The short version
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| A talking roach from one line, on your phone, vertical, no prompt writing | Roachy (subscription, no free trial) |
| Free clips today, with a long prompt and daily limits | Google Flow (50 credits a day, throttled at peak hours) |
| Full control: frames, ingredients, extending clips | Google Flow on Google AI Pro or Ultra |
| Any character talking from typed dialogue (not just roaches) | PixVerse Lip-Sync |
| Longer, higher-resolution cinematic clips | Kling AI or Hailuo AI |
| Editing, captions and stitching a clip you already made | CapCut |
1. Roachy
Best for: the talking-cockroach format itself, done in one line.
Roachy does exactly one thing. You type the line (and, if you like, where it happens), a cartoon cockroach turns to the camera and says it out loud, lip-synced, in the language you typed. Every character in your text becomes a roach automatically, so there's no "humanoid cockroach, cinematic lighting, 4K" prompt to copy from a TikTok comment. Two roaches can argue when you write lines as "Who: what they say". Videos are vertical by default (horizontal is an option), 5 to 10 seconds depending on your lines. It is not free: the download is, creating videos needs a weekly or yearly subscription with 2 videos a day (max 30 a month). We make it, so weigh this entry accordingly.
| Platforms | Android (on Google Play); iPhone coming soon to the App Store |
|---|---|
| Price | Subscription, weekly or yearly; no free trial. Current price in the app |
| Free option | None for creating videos |
| Vertical 9:16 | Default (horizontal 16:9 also available) |
| Clip length | 5–10 s (set from your text) |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes, that's the whole app |
| Prompt effort | One sentence |
Pros
- No prompt engineering: the roach, the lip-sync and the vertical format are built in
- Speaks whatever language you type
- Two-roach dialogues from plain "Who: line" text
- Sexual content filtered before generation; report and block tools built in
Cons
- Only cockroaches: no photos, faces, voices or other characters
- No free tier; 2 videos a day, 30 a month
- No iPhone version on the App Store yet as of this writing

2. Google Flow (Veo 3.1 / Gemini Omni Flash)
Best for: free daily credits and full creative control, if you'll write the prompt.
Flow is Google's AI video studio and the tool behind most "how to make a cockroach video" tutorials. According to Google's own help page you get 50 Flow credits a day with or without a subscription; a Veo 3.1 Lite clip costs 10 credits and a Fast clip 20, so that's roughly five short clips a day, and non-subscribers may be unable to generate during peak hours (about 2–5 PM UTC). Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra add monthly credits. Flow now has iOS and Android apps, supports 9:16, makes 4–8 second Veo clips (up to 10 s with Gemini Omni Flash), and requires you to be 18+. Google recommends English prompts for best results, and its own documentation says consistent spoken audio for short lines is still "an area of active development".
| Platforms | Web (Chromium browser), iOS, Android |
|---|---|
| Price | Free tier; Google AI Plus $4.99, Pro $19.99, Ultra $99.99 or $199.99 per month (US, Sept 2026) |
| Free option | 50 credits/day, peak-hour throttling without a subscription |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes (both aspect ratios) |
| Clip length | 4, 6, 8 s (Veo 3.1); 4–10 s (Gemini Omni Flash) |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes, with a descriptive prompt; audio quality varies |
| Prompt effort | High: describe character, scene, camera, speech |
Pros
- Real free daily allowance
- The most flexible tool on this list: frames-to-video, ingredients, extend
- Official mobile apps since 2026
- Available in Türkiye, 18+ with age verification
Cons
- You write and tune the whole prompt every time
- Quality model costs 100 credits, i.e. two days of free credits for one clip
- Free users can be blocked at peak hours
- SynthID and, in some countries, a visible mark on outputs

3. Gemini app (video generation)
Best for: people already paying for a Google AI plan who want a chat-style flow.
The Gemini app generates video with Google's Gemini Omni model, but only on a paid plan: Google's feature table lists video generation as not available without a Google AI plan. Limits are compute-based and refresh every five hours rather than a fixed daily count. Text prompts default to landscape, so you have to switch to vertical before generating. Clips are up to 10 seconds. It's the simplest route if you already subscribe; it's not a free route.
| Platforms | Web, iOS, Android |
|---|---|
| Price | Requires Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra (same plans as Flow) |
| Free option | No video generation on the free tier |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes, but landscape is the default for text prompts |
| Clip length | Up to 10 s |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes, with a descriptive prompt |
| Prompt effort | High |
Pros
- No separate tool to learn if you use Gemini already
- Huge, well-rated apps on both stores
Cons
- Nothing for free users
- No published per-day video count
- Landscape by default

4. PixVerse
Best for: making any character talk from typed dialogue, with a free daily allowance.
PixVerse is a general AI video app (50M+ Android installs) whose Lip-Sync feature is the closest thing to Roachy's core idea: upload or generate a character, type the dialogue, get a talking clip. It's a two-step workflow (make the cockroach image first, then lip-sync it) and the Android app carries ads, but registered users get daily free credits, the exact amount varying by campaign. On iOS the current listing is "PixVerse Lite" with weekly and yearly Elite plans.
| Platforms | Web, Android, iOS (PixVerse Lite) |
|---|---|
| Price | iOS: Elite weekly $5.99, yearly $49.99 (US listing, Sept 2026); web plans not verified |
| Free option | Daily free credits, amount varies |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes |
| Clip length | Short clips; credits charged per second |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes (Lip-Sync) |
| Prompt effort | Medium: character image + dialogue |
Pros
- Type dialogue, character speaks
- Free credits every day
- Turkish localization on iOS
Cons
- Two-step process for a cockroach character
- Ads in the Android app
- Credit costs per second add up with audio

5. Kling AI
Best for: longer, higher-resolution clips; less for quick banter.
Kling generates up to 15 seconds in 1080p or 4K and can extend videos to minutes, which is more than a talking-roach joke needs. The free tier marks downloads and daily free credits depend on running promotions; memberships remove the mark. The app has no Turkish interface (English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese).
| Platforms | Web, iOS, Android |
|---|---|
| Price | iOS: Standard $10, Pro $37, Premier $92 per month (US listing, Sept 2026) |
| Free option | Daily free credits during promotions; marked downloads |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes |
| Clip length | Up to 15 s, extendable |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes, with prompt/lip-sync tools |
| Prompt effort | High |
Pros
- High resolution and long clips
- Well-rated on both stores
Cons
- Free downloads carry a visible mark
- No Turkish UI
- Overkill and pricey for 6-second jokes

6. Hailuo AI (MiniMax)
Best for: realistic, cinematic clips on Android or web.
Hailuo's Android app has 10M+ installs and does text-to-video, image-to-video and subject reference. Free users get basic features and downloads with a visible mark; paid web plans start at $14.99 a month for 1,000 credits. We could not verify a live official iOS app, and the App Store search returns look-alikes, so be careful what you install.
| Platforms | Web, Android; iOS unverified |
|---|---|
| Price | Web: Standard $14.99/mo and up (official payment policy) |
| Free option | Basic features, marked downloads |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes |
| Clip length | Short clips |
| Talking character from typed text | Yes, via prompt |
| Prompt effort | High |
Pros
- Strong realism
- Large Android user base
Cons
- Marked downloads on free
- iOS availability unclear; many clones
- Turkish UI not verified
7. CapCut
Best for: captions, cuts and stitching, after you've made the clip.
CapCut is an editor first. It does have an AI video generator (Seedance text-to-video, credits at $0.01 each) but the main reason it's on this list is what people do next: add captions, trim, stack two clips. CapCut Pro is listed at $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year on CapCut's own comparison page, with regional variation.
| Platforms | iOS, Android, desktop, web |
|---|---|
| Price | Pro $19.99/mo or $179.99/yr (official page); in-app prices vary |
| Free option | Free editor; AI generation uses credits |
| Vertical 9:16 | Yes |
| Clip length | Editor: any |
| Talking character from typed text | Not the main feature |
| Prompt effort | n/a for editing |
Pros
- Best captions and trimming on mobile
- Free for basic editing
Cons
- Not a talking-character generator
- AI features are credit-metered

Can you make an AI cockroach video for free?
Yes, with limits. Google Flow's 50 daily credits are the real free route: about five Veo 3.1 Lite clips a day, English prompts recommended, possible blocks at peak hours, 18+ with age check. PixVerse, Kling and Hailuo hand out daily credits too, usually with a visible mark on free downloads. The Gemini app gives free users no video at all. Roachy has no free route: it's a paid subscription that trades money for not writing prompts.
What the tutorials don't tell you
- The viral prompt ("cute humanoid cockroach in a jersey, realistic lip sync, cinematic lighting, 4K") is 60+ words because general models need to be told everything. Change one word and the character changes.
- Spoken lines are the weak spot of general video models; Google itself says short speech segments are still being improved. Expect retries.
- Look-alike apps named "Flow AI", "Veo 3" and similar fill both stores. The real Flow is published by Google LLC; the real Gemini by Google.
- Whatever you use, skip real people's names and real clubs in the line: you'll get a clip you can't post.
Roast generators and talking-cartoon tools: how Roachy differs
Searches for "AI roast video generator" or "text to talking cartoon video" land on general tools that write the joke for you, animate an avatar or a photo you upload, and let you choose from a voice list. Roachy: AI Talking Cockroach does none of that by design: you write the line, the character is always a cartoon cockroach, the voice comes from the video model, and the output is a 5-to-10-second clip, vertical or horizontal. If you want your own face, a chosen voice or an AI-written script, those tools are the better pick; if you want the cockroach format from one typed line, that is what Roachy is for.
Google, Gemini, Veo, Flow, PixVerse, Kling, Hailuo, MiniMax and CapCut are trademarks of their owners. Roachy is not affiliated with any of them. Prices and limits were read from the linked official pages on 29 September 2026 and may have changed.
Questions
Which app do people use for the cockroach video trend?
Most tutorials use Google Flow or the Gemini app with a long descriptive prompt. Roachy is built for the format itself: one line in, talking roach out, but it needs a subscription.
Is there a free app for talking cockroach videos?
Not a dedicated one. Google Flow gives 50 free credits a day (about five short clips) with peak-hour limits; PixVerse, Kling and Hailuo give daily credits with marked downloads. Roachy has no free tier.
Do I need Google AI Pro for a cockroach video?
Not for Flow's free daily credits, though peak hours may be blocked. You do need a Google AI plan for video in the Gemini app. Roachy needs neither; it needs its own subscription.
Why isn't Roachy free if the others have free credits?
Each Roachy video is made on a paid model, with no ads and no marks. The subscription covers that at 2 videos a day; we don't sell your data.
